Systematically Helping the Body Heal Itself through Reflexology

Foot Reflexology Tennent Technique™ addresses all the systems of the body by employing a unique sequence of pressure applications to the hand and foot reflexology pressure points. The sequence of a reflexology treatment by JoAnn is designed to follow the natural pathways that the body utilizes when flushing toxins in order to heal naturally. JoAnn’s Technique of Foot Reflexology begins with the reflex pressure points that refer directly to the spine—the taproot—where nerves connect to, muscle, organ and gland. Then systematic pressure is applied to the reflexology pressure points that correspond to the anatomy in the head—moving and clearing energy channels through the sense organs in the specific direction that they drain. The reflexology treatment proceeds to the endocrine system, using gravity, with the intent of draining for the purposes of detoxification. Attention is then given to the reflexology pressure points of the reproductive system. Foot Reflexolog

Reflexology ‘Takes a Stand’ on Foot Care

Foot reflexology is a natural way to care for your feet, as well as your whole body. If you are experiencing symptoms such as foot pain, numbness, swelling, bunions, fungus etc. it is best to treat the entire system, along with the feet, with reflexology. Someone experiencing foot pain may look at a foot reflexology chart to locate the specific foot pressure points (or the acupressure points) that relate certain conditions. Receiving a foot reflexology session may confirm and provide additional information based on the relative sensation of the pressure points. A Certified Reflexologist may also offer instruction for self-treatment. Regular application of pressure on the reflex-zones and pressure points of the hands and feet could become part of a natural foot care regime. Regular foot reflexology treatments assist with health maintenance as well as when there is illness, imbalance or foot pain. Numbness (neuropathy), foot pain, foot swelling or foot fung

How does reflexlogy work?

The systematic application of pressure to the reflexology points stimulates the body’s ability to rejuvenate and heal itself. Hand and Foot Reflexology treatments open the subtle electrical channels that become blocked due to emotional and physical imbalances. Foot pain, foot tenderness or foot numbness indicates what system of the body may have become imbalanced. Reflexology addresses these imbalances and brings the root of the imbalance into awareness. Creating a physiological change in the body improving circulation and thereby reducing stress, reflexology aids in the elimination of body waste and restores body function to improve health. Working on a cellular level to rebalance the body, nourish the cells with nutrients, alter the cellular memory of emotions, and change the electrical vibration in a way that allows the body to process food efficiently and detoxify naturally. Reflexology is safe for expectant mothers with caution to avoid the direct pressure

Ancient Healing Art of Relexology Continues in the Present

Reflexology is an ancient technique of applying pressure to reflex points of the feet and hands. This ancient healing art has been traced back to ancient China. Archeologists have found stone-carved stone reflexology charts of Buddha’s feet dating to around 40 B.C. For more background on the history of reflexology see Sokushin Do History.    Foot reflexology later traveled to Japan during the Tang dynasty and spread in other parts of Asia such as present day Korea and Thailand. Egyptian hieroglyphics discovered in the tomb of Ankhmahor, a ka-priest from 2400 BC, depict a foot and hand reflexology treatment in progress. Foot Reflexology became part of mainstream medical therapy in India, and flourished in European countries such as Germany where the course of study is comparable to that of a medical physician. Reflexology eventually found its way to America and was popularized when Eunice Ingham published her best-selling book, "Stories The Feet Can Tel

Pay Attention to Foot Pain NOT Associated with Recent Injury or Trauma

Foot pain, foot tenderness, and foot numbness may indicate an imbalance in one or more of the body’s systems related to the associated foot reflexology pressure points. A map of these associated foot reflexology pressure points may be found in foot reflexology charts. For example: foot pain in the sole of the foot may be associated with improper diet. A diet high in refined sugar may cause an imbalance in the endocrine system including the adrenal glands. Foot Reflexology is effective in addressing this type of foot pain. Similarly, foot reflexology can be effective in relieving foot pain related to imbalances including toxic exposure, emotional trauma, suppressed immunity and organ function, etc.  (See Reflexology Testimonials) Foot pain, whether or not associated with a foot injury, is a message from the body that deserves attention. Foot reflexology can help in deciphering the message, investigating the underlying cause, and treating the imbalance.

Foot Pain Associated with a Foot Injury or Trauma

Foot pain, foot tenderness, and foot numbness may indicate an imbalance in one or more of the body’s systems related to a recent or chronic foot injury or trauma. For example: foot pain in the arches may be associated with muscular strain due to improper footwear. Footwear may cause an imbalance in the muscular-skeletal and nervous systems connected to the foot itself. Foot Reflexology is effective with this type of foot pain. Similarly, foot reflexology can be effective in relieving foot pain related to imbalances including stubbed toes, decreased circulation, swelling and recovery from foot surgery, etc. (See Reflexology Testimonials) World Peace, Blessings and Many Thanks

Foot Pain from Flip Flops

From a client- “I damaged the arches of both feet after hiking in flip-flops. I could hardly walk afterwards because the foot pain was so great. The podiatrist couldn’t help me. As a last resort I tried reflexology. One reflexology treatment removed the foot pain, and subsequent sessions later helped with the pain of my scoliosis.”

Foot Pain is a Message of Imbalance

Foot pain, whether or not associated with a foot injury or trauma, means your body is sending you a message. Foot Reflexology can be used to decipher that message by a systematic exploration of, and the direct application of pressure to, the foot reflexology pressure points. Additional information can be gained by referring to foot reflexology charts, and by taking foot reflexology courses. World Peace, Blessings and Many Thanks

Pancreatix Pressure Points

“My left thumb was painful. JoAnn went to the corresponding pressure point on the foot and found it was painful when pressed. My foot was hurting in the same place as my hand but I hadn’t had an injury or stepped on a rock. She knew that I had recently consumed too much sugar because the pressure point represented the insulin side of my pancreas.” - Reflexology Client, Santa Cruz

My Path to Health Through Reflexology

Foot Reflexology Cured My Back Pain    IN 1984 I BADLY INJURED MY BACK. For the next three years I tried to rehabilitate and manage the pain in my back with many types of therapy. I finally made the decision to have back surgery. The nerve damage from the ruptured disc had spread down my leg and I had a case of drop foot. For the two years following surgery I was labeled 50 percent permanently disabled and I was still walking with a cane. I felt like I had tried everything when a massage therapist referred me to a European foot reflexologist, Ulla Meyherhof. After the first session I had regained about 60 percent of the feeling in my calf. I walked out of that session without the use of my cane. After about five months of regular reflexology sessions, the pain in my back diminished completely. Through the course of my foot reflexology treatments, my chronic digestive problems were addressed and my glaucoma was stabilized. Foot reflexology treatments admini

Relexolgy helps Circulation

“I have been diagnosed with non Hodgkin’s cancer. Chemotherapy and drug treatments caused me to lose circulation in my feet. JoAnn has helped my body regain this. She has the ability to feel and sense anatomical changes in the body ... giving insight into tumors, cysts and other physical changes.” - Client Testimonial

‘Feel to Heal’ Using Foot Reflexology

When foot pain, soreness, or numbness are present, a general foot massage feels relaxing and stimulates the circulation of the feet. However, even a good foot massage is not as direct or effective as a foot reflexology treatment. Your footprints and your handprints are your own unique identification. In hand and foot reflexology, the reflexology pressure points on your feet and hands represent your individual anatomy. Life sustaining energy courses throughout our bodies as electrical current, traveling along zones and meridians that end at pressure points in the feet and hands. The application of direct pressure to the reflex-zones or pressure points in the hands or feet, promotes a healing response (or reflex) in the corresponding anatomy. A reflexology treatment is a systematic application of direct pressure on specific reflexology pressure points. Every part of the anatomy is connected to the foot and is represented by a reflex-zone located on a speci
